Template:Yamaguchi InfoboxThe Yamaguchi Clan is a semi-nomadic group that at a certain point separated into three separate tribes which are currently located in Kaze no Kuni, Hi no Kuni, and Mizu no Kuni. The Yamaguchi remain separate from the more commonly inhabited Shinobi villages in the countries they inhabit, except for those particular individuals who wish to become Shinobi: Such members are sent to the Shinobi Academy at the normal age of eight, but are subject to harsh childhoods if they possess the clan's Dojutsu, the Jaakugan, as they are forced to train in both the standard Shinobi arts as well as the specialized training which their Dojutsu requires.

The Yamaguchi, overall, tend to maintain their loyalty to the clan over all else. As such, due to conflicting responsibilities and loyalties, it is rare to see a Yamaguchi Shinobi in general, with most of the clan retaining more common professions to assist in the clan's functioning in the wild: potters, smiths, weavers, hunters, and gatherers to name only a few.

Clan Ideology[]

"Loyalty, Duty, Protection"

Loyalty[]

Loyalty to others is the first, and least important, of the three values for which the clan stands. Loyalty, to a Yamaguchi, means to never betray the trust of those around you. While a Yamaguchi may have to often withhold the truth in this day and age, a Yamaguchi who is true to their clan's values will not lie to a trusted companion, except possibly by omission, and even that is only in the most necessary of circumstances.

Duty[]

Duty to the clan is the second of the values, and of middling importance among the three. The clan is to come before one's own personal desires and allegiances. If forced to choose between the clan or love, the clan must come first. If forced to choose between the clan and the village, the clan must come first. All Yamaguchi share a duty to protect and serve each other, as their ancestors have since the founding of their clan. Any who shirk their duty are banished from the clan, and will be hunted down by their former clansmen and relatives, and summarily executed.

Protection[]

Protection of the clan is the third, and most important, of the three values. The Yamaguchi are not an aggressive people, and do not seek thrills. Many of the Yamaguchi still refuse to associate with any major or minor villages for this reason, so as to avoid conflict. However, if a Yamaguchi's clansmen are in danger, regardless of circumstances, they are to mount a rescue. This extends to fellow Yamaguchi, loved ones, and if the Yamaguchi is a shinobi, this also extends to their teammates, as the Yamaguchi often consider anyone close to themselves as something akin to unofficial clanmates. In order of importance, a Yamaguchi shall protect the Clan, then their family, then their friends. Any Yamaguchi who flees in fear in the face of their comrade's imminent demise shall be branded a traitor to the clan by means of cowardice and and for being craven, and shall be hunted down by their former clansmen and relatives, and summarily executed.

A less commonly spoken-of portion of the value of Protection also happens to be the truer meaning of the value: Protect the Jaakugan. In the eyes of the clan, the loss of the Jaakugan to an outsider is unfathomable and inherently wrong. As such, many children who wish to become shinobi, mercenaries, or anything similar are coached in the methods with which they may most effectively destroy their own eyes, lest they be stolen.  Such methods include the use of their own thumbs, various acidic substances, and even the use of certain jutsu to rob them of their own sight, rendering their eyes useless to any captors.

Clan Hierarchy[]

While the Yamaguchi clan has separated into three branches, it is not broken. Currently in Kaze no Kuni, Hi no Kuni, and Mizu no Kuni, the clan itself remains apart from the actual ninja villages, retaining their nomadic lifestyle. Each tribe is lead by a single individual, known as the Pathfinder, and the clan as a whole is lead by the Pathfinders as well, who hold an annual gathering to discuss important matters such as political states, important news, and possibly migrations.

Each tribe is entirely under the control of their particular Pathfinder, and will follow his or her guidance on most subjects. Each Pathfinder may choose to allow Yamaguchi youths to become citizens of shinobi villages and attend the Academy, or they may opt against this, preferring a more xenophobic approach. Overall, the individual tribes hold no true hierarchy aside from following the guidance of the Pathfinder, as the values of the clan encourage them to help and support each other, for the betterment of everyone as opposed to the betterment of the few.

It should be noted that the position of Pathfinder is not hereditary in the traditional sense. Instead, the current Pathfinder selects an heir whom they train personally. This heir must possess the clan's Kekkei Genkai, and must be from the "main family." Each tribe has a multitude of members from the main family, and these members are revered for always possessing the clan's unique Dojutsu, and for their high aptitude with it. The new Pathfinder must be selected from among those most powerful in the use of the Dojutsu, so as to ensure that the knowledge of their clan's abilities will not be lost, and ensuring that the Pathfinder is the most capable Jaakugan user of their generation.

Clan History[]

Humble Beginnings[]

The Yamaguchi clan originates from Mizu no Kuni, with records dating back to times before the founding of Kirigakure, although all such records are closely guarded clan secrets. The Yamaguchi clan has traditionally served from behind the scenes, and always worked to keep their presence as a clan to a minimum, as their unique kekkei genkai, whose true name is still kept as a closely guarded clan secret, is able to thwart even powerful sensory jutsu. For their own preservation, the original Yamaguchi decided it would be  best if they remained unobtrusive and out of the public eye.

From the founding of the Yamaguchi as a clan, they have always chosen to withhold any information in regard to their clan's size or workings, and are notoriously silent about their Kekkei Genkai, refusing to share the details of its abilities or workings except with their most trusted companions, and those who also share their gift. As years have passed, however, some knowledge of their abilities and presence invariably was able to escape, and rumors began to spread of the "Jaakugan," so nicknamed for the sinister crimson glow of their  eyes, often visible in the dark if one looks closely. This Jaakugan, while a rare commodity even among the Yamaguchi, is still a rare and little-known Dojutsu, due primarily to the fact that the clan has kept it on such a stringent lockdown.

The Yamaguchi clan's start was that of a nomadic tribe, but they have always held strong to their three core tenets: Loyalty, Duty, Protection. These tenets were developed by the original Yamaguchi nomads in order to protect themselves and their gift, and the three values have done so to such a degree that the clan now essentially holds them as something akin  to sacred law. As they roamed Mizu no Kuni in their founding days, they would often designate those born with the clan's Dojutsu to be scouts, watching for approaching threats. As such, the Yamaguchi clan was able to live freely and thrive without being noticed, even in a land so rife with powerful tribes, legendary weapons, and powerful techniques such as Kekkei Genkai and unique hijutsu.

Due to the role that those gifted with the Jaakugan played in protecting their tribe as they developed from a disorganized tribe into a well-coordinated clan, the bloodline within the clan which carried the Jaakugan most strongly was designated as the leaders of the clan. Namely, the specific family chosen to lead the Yamaguchi was known for the fact that every child born of their blood possessed the Jaakugan, and had far more ability with it than any others. This trust was proven to be well-earned, as the main family wisely decided to avoid any contact with Kirigakure during its founding years, and to instead remain an independent entity. As such, the Yamaguchi clan remained largely unchanged by the creation of Kirigakure, and continued as they had done for years. It should be noted, however, that unlike some other clans, there has never been any ill will between the main and branch families of the Yamaguchi; the main family has made it their duty since the creation of the "main family" to protect and serve the clan, rather than control and own it.

As the years progressed, some of the Yamaguchi wished to leave the confines of the traveling clan, as often happens with such groups as they begin to grow larger. This led to a heated dispute between the branch families and the main family. In the end, it was agreed upon that any case of a Yamaguchi wishing to live apart from the clan was to be handled on an individual basis, and that if approved, the wayward clanmate must always remain within close proximity to the clan's current location. In exchange, for so long as a clansman lives apart, the clan would not abandon them unless necessary, leaving a pocket of the clan nearby to protect each other and those who wished to live on their own. This became the foundation upon which the scattered nature of the Yamaguchi clan would be built in later years, and also served to protect the clan more than the specific individuals in question as the years wore on.

The First Shinobi War[]

Overall, the Yamaguchi continued in their patterns with little change, or need to do so, until the First Shinobi War began. As the tides of war began to rise, the scattered pockets of the clan gathered together, bringing home almost all of their wayward  kin, and left the vicinity of what they thought would be the battlefield. However, the sheer scale of the war made that an impossibility for the clan, and thus they made a difficult decision: they scattered, like so many leaves in a gale. They broke apart into many small factions, with the main family making the most difficult choice in choosing to split their own family, so as to maintain the tradition of them leading their flock. Each of these groups vacated Mizu no Kuni in search of safer lands, and were to seek out the others upon finding a habitable location. However, each group was met with terrible circumstances, as they found that the war was quite literally everywhere.

By the end of the First Shinobi War, only three groups remained, the entirety of the rest of the clan perishing as civilian casualties during the events of the war. This fact is only known to members of the Yamaguchi, as their existence as a clan was still mostly unknown, and  is referred to simply as "The Tragedy" by the clansmen. Following The Tragedy, the three groups that survived were making their lives in Hi no Kuni, Kaze no Kuni, and Tsuchi no Kuni. However, the tribe in Tsuchi no Kuni returned to their ancestral home of Mizu no Kuni after the war ended, whereas the other two groups chose to stay where they were, as they had become accustomed to their surroundings by this point. It was then that the head of the main family chose to fragment the clan into three groups, with the agreement of the other factions' leaders, granting them equal rights to his own, and thus creating the official position of "Pathfinder" within the clan.

Following the official split of the clan into three parts, the three Pathfinders convened in Mizu no Kuni, not far from Kirigakure, and held their first annual meeting, known from then on as the "Pathfinders' Moot." It was at this meeting that many clan laws and regulations were put into practice, including the official agreement that clansmen may choose to, with permission from their Pathfinder, join a shinobi village in their branch's current home country. This meeting became a focal point in the history of the clan, and is seen with both reverence and respect in the eyes of Yamaguchi clansmen, even in the current day.

As the years continued to pass, the Yamaguchi remained aloof and apart from their  host countries for the most part. The clan was damaged, and woefully shrunken as compared to years prior. As such, while they had agreed upon the possibility, members of the Yamaguchi clan were invariably refused when questions of joining a village or separating from the group arose. This was purely for the safety of the clan, and remained so for a generation. Once a new bounty of Yamaguchi children were born, the Pathfinders' reticence vanished, and they once again began to allow the clan to integrate with their respective host countries. While there were not many Yamaguchi shinobi, and none of note, the Yamaguchi were not so indifferent with the coming of the Second Shinobi War.

The Second & Third Shinobi Wars[]

As, once again, the flow of global politics shifted to war, the Yamaguchi braced themselves. They had not the numbers to once again scatter into the wind, and thus had to hunker down and make their stand with the rest of the world, having learned from their previous mistakes. The Pathfinders made contact with each other briefly before the start of the war, and created secret and unique means to alert each other on the battlefield. This led to their being able to avoid slaying each other on the field of battle, and thus they were prepared when their inevitable collisions occurred during the war. While they served honorably, and would not betray the villages they served, nor would they accept any orders to kill their brethren. However, to protect their own interests, the Yamaguchi only allowed those who did not posses the Jaakugan to join the war, cloistering away those who possessed their clan's gift as much as possible.

As the flames of war died down several years later, the Yamaguchi clan found themselves having fared relatively well. They had suffered minimal casualties during the war, and were able to bounce back with relative ease. Now realizing the benefits of both sides, villager and nomad, the Pathfinders' first moot in five years consisted almost entirely of unanimous agreements to encourage integration, whilst maintaining their identity as a clan separate from any village. While this course of action was intended to be acted upon immediately, it was not meant to be. Within a year, the Third Shinobi War broke out, throwing the unprepared clan back into the thick of it.

With the onset of the Third Shinobi War, the Yamaguchi Pathfinders chose to uphold their decision by selling themselves as mercenaries, but each tribe made it clear that even if they were not hired, as a show of good faith, they would accept no work from any but the village they were affiliated with. This was a calculated decision made by the Pathfinder of Hi no Kuni, which the others agreed with, and resulted in the forging of  positive, if tentative, relations with the nearby villages. Several notable Yamaguchi served honorably during the Third Shinobi War, primarily in the roles of medical nin and sensory nin.

As the latest war ended, the Yamaguchi worked to maintain positive relations with their host countries, and were able to remain independent of any given faction by maintaining their status as a "Mercenary Clan" who only accepted employment from their home. In addition, as a form of tithe, a few children from each generation of the Yamaguchi would be sent to train as Shinobi. Unbeknownst to the villages and their shinobi, the Yamaguchi carefully selected the children they would send, ensuring that it was always a child of the branch family who showed no ability to use the Jaakugan.

The Current Day[]

It wasn't until Yamaguchi Hatori was designated as Pathfinder of the Kaze no Kuni Yamaguchi that the clan began to lose some of its secretive nature. Hatori argued that if they were to truly garner the trust of their neighbors and compatriots, they should not be deceiving them. In light of this, he made an extreme decision, and enlisted his own son, Yamaguchi Hiroma, into the Shinobi Academy in Sunagakure no Sato. There were many disputes from both the other Pathfinders as well as the branch families, and even his own siblings and spouse, but Hatori held steadfast to his beliefs and encouraged Hiroma, who wanted to be a shinobi in any case.

Hatori's decision initially proved to be, mostly, unimportant. Only the Kaze no Kuni Yamaguchi began to allow the children possessing the Jaakugan to enter into the Shinobi Academy, and it was still a rarity. However, as the years passed, Hiroma grew into both a highly skilled shinobi as well as attaining a rare mastery over his Jaakugan. As such, Hiroma was designated as the heir to the Kaze no Kuni Yamaguchi, and was also the first Yamaguchi to be both a proper shinobi as well as Pathfinder.

With the advent of Hiroma's appointment as both shinobi and Pathfinder, it set a precedent which could not be denied within the other branches of the clan. While it is not common, there are rare cases in each of the three villages associated with the Yamaguchi's homes, Kirigakure, Sunagakura, and Konohagakure, in which a child possessing the Jaakugan may choose, as they near the appropriate age, to join the Shinobi Academy. While it is still rare to see, as it requires the child to want to do so, the approval of the parents, and the approval of the Pathfinder, the Yamaguchi have begun to step out of the shadows in which they have hidden for over a century, beginning to fully integrate themselves with the events of the world as they integrate with its cultures.

Clan Abilities[]

Ranmaru's Kekkei Genkai

Jaakugan: Suimin[]

邪悪眼睡眠 (lit. Evil Eye: Sleep)

Range: N/A | Chakra Usage: N/A

The Suimin state is the most common state of the Jaakugan, and is the equivalent of an off-switch. While in Suimin state, the Jaakugan imparts no additional abilities on the user of this Dojutsu. However, this state hides the presence of the Jaakugan completely, rendering it impossible to discern a user of Jaakugan: Suimin as a user of the Jaakugan until they activate their Dojutsu with Shinku no Me. It should be noted that the Jaakugan is powered not only by unique chakra being sent to the brain, like most Dojutsu, but also requires a unique life energy to be sent to the brain as well. Without the correct life energy, the Dojutsu will permanently remain in the Suimin state. This generally renders ocular transplants pointless, although certain abilities such as mind control techniques, Edo Tensei, and Human Puppetry can enable someone to "steal" the Jaakugan. This has not occurred, and thus has not been tested, but such abilities are considered to be the highest threat to the Yamaguchi clan, as they could allow the Jaakugan to fall into the hands of non-clan members.

Jaakugan: Shinku no Me[]

邪悪眼真紅の目 (lit. Evil Eye: Crimson Eyes)

Range: 0-10km | Chakra Usage: Very Low

Shinku no Me is the awakened and activated state of the Jaakugan, and grants the user access to the abilities of their Dojutsu and its associated genjutsu, which can vary from individual to individual. However, three abilities are a static ability among all users of the Jaakugan: these abilities are the Vitality Detection, Chakra Detection, and Chakra Ghost Techniques. Aside from these techniques, however, members of the Yamaguchi clan are often quite adept with Genjutsu, although not as much as the Uchiha, and are able to create unique Genjutsu similar to the Chakra Ghost Technique, fooling even Dojutsu.

Unlike the Uchiha, the Genjutsu techniques of the Jaakugan do not affect normal individuals or shinobi, and are only used to fool Dojutsu and sensory jutsu. If a Yamaguchi wishes to deceive a non-sensory ninja with Genjutsu, they will need to resort to traditional Genjutsu techniques. However, the sensory abilities of the Jaakugan will function normally on all targets, allowing the user to detect both their chakra and life signatures as normal.

While Shinku no Me allows its user access to the Dojutsu's abilities, it does not inherently serve any function on its own, aside from causing the user's eyes to glow with an indistinct crimson coloration, almost like bloody, luminous cataracts. While there is a chakra cost associated with the activation, or "awakening," of Shinku no Me, there is no continued cost for maintaining this state unless the user is utilizing one of the techniques that accompany the Jaakugan.

Katsuryoku Kenshutsu no Jutsu[]

活力検出 (lit. Vitality Detection Technique)

Range: 0-10km | Chakra Usage: Very Low - Very High

Similar to the Byakugan's ability to detect chakra, this ability is unique to the Jaakugan, and allows the user to detect the vital energies of any being within the range of their Jaakugan, even through obstructions, with the user's range limited only by their proficiency in the use of the Jaakugan and this technique. It should be stated that this ability does not grant any form of telescopic vision or the ability to discern anything aside from life energies at a distance or through obstructions. As with any other Jaakugan techniques, the absolute maximum range of this ability is 10km, but that is only in the most extreme cases of mastery. The average user has difficulty exceeding 1km, whereas those from the Main branch (the Yamaguchi Council and their descendants) are more adept and are able to reach up to two or three kilometers without any specialized training.

This ability, when activated, causes the soft red glow of the Jaakugan to brighten and clear into a sharp, ruby-hued glow, no longer an indistinct crimson. This ability is enables the user to discern what is alive, and what is not. There are no other uses to this ability, aside from using it to support other techniques, and to gather information.

While this technique is able to detect life forces in front of the user, even through obstacles, at up to 10km, that is the absolute limit ("hardcap") to the range of the ability. That reach is only achievable by the most focused of Sensory shinobi, who have trained diligently in the usage of their Jaakugan, and must still be part of the Head family in order to achieve such skill and finess. It requires specialized training which takes several years for each technique in order to achieve such range. Such proficiency in this technique does not grant equal proficiency in Chakura Kenshutsu no Jutsu, despite their obvious similarities. In addition, as the range of the jutsu increases, so does the chakra cost, with the maximum of 10km being a "very high" cost to maintain.

A member of the main family may attain up to 3km without any special training, assuming they have sufficient chakra and/or sufficient control of their chakra. A member of any branch families who possesses the Jaakugan may achieve up to 1km without any special training, assuming they possess sufficient chakra and/or sufficient control of their chakra. If any user specializes into sensory techniques, including techniques which do not utilize the Dojutsu, their range eventually can be increased by as much as three additional kilometers, depending on their familiarity and skill with sensory jutsu. In addition, if a user undertakes specialized training in the use of the Jaakugan (by taking an SA for Katsuryoku Kenshutsu, specifically), they can enhance their range by as much as an additional four kilometers with this specific technique.

Katsuryoku Kenshutsu has two primary methods of use: General and Focused. When using this ability in the general sense, the user can detect the presence and location of all living beings within their field of vision. However, the user may focus on a specific individual in order to discern their health and well-being, able to discern variances in their health. Focused use may be used in tandem with general, but may only be used on one individual at a time. Focused use of this technique allows the user to analyze the life energy of the target in order to diagnose any ailments affecting the individual. This does not give any explicit details beyond the most simple, such as that they are under the effect of a poison, but it will not reveal what the poison is, how it was caused, or any other arbitrary details.

It should be noted that Katsuryoku Kenshutsu possesses several weaknesses. Firstly, when detecting life energy, the user may detect the presence of those within his field of vision, but may only discern the presence of living things with this ability. As such Edo Tensei, Human Puppets, golems, and other such artificial imitations of life as well as creatures and constructs which use chakra as a source of "life" will not register when examined using Katsuryoku Kenshutsu. The user can see them normally while using this ability, but cannot detect them by using the ability. Secondly, Katsuryoku Kenshutsu may not be used to detect anyone with a Jaakugan. The unique life energies of the Yamaguchi clan are anomalous when compared to normal life energies, and are not subject to abilities which detect life force, as theirs is unique. As such, a user may not diagnose themselves or their clan members using this technique, nor can they track them with this ability. Thirdly, a Jaakugan user cannot use both Kenshutsu abilities at the same time, and thus cannot compensate for the weaknesses of Katsuryoku Kenshutsu by using Chakura Kenshutsu. These limitations are not able to be bypassed in any way, shape, or form, and are absolute.

Chakura Kenshutsu no Jutsu[]

チャクラ検出 (lit. Chakra Detection Technique)

Range: 0-10km | Chakra Usage: Very Low - Very High

Similar to the Byakugan's ability to detect chakra, this ability allows the user to detect the chakra of any being within the range of their Jaakugan, even through obstructions, with the user's range limited only by their proficiency in the use of the Jaakugan and this technique. It should be stated that this ability does not grant any form of telescopic vision or the ability to discern anything aside from chakra at a distance or through obstructions.

This ability, when activated, causes the soft red glow of the Jaakugan to darken and blur the coloration of the user's eyes, leaving them close to the brownish-red color of dried blood, and quite murky in appearance, the normally bright glow darkened slightly. This ability enables the user to read the Chakra of others, much like the Byakugan, but is far more limited in its use. There are two primary methods of using this technique: "Chikari," (血狩り lit., "Blood hunting") which allows the user to locate someone's unique chakra signature, and track them by using Chakura Kenshutsu, and "Sōsa," (走査 lit., "Scanning") which allows the user to detect the chakra signature of anyone within range of their Jaakugan, but with only vague information.

Chakura Kenshutsu: Sōsa is woefully inept at determining details, but allows the user to locate all living beings within their field of vision, up to their maximum effective range with the Jaakugan. While they essentially see the presence of chakra, while using Sōsa the target cannot locate the chakra pathways of any individuals that they locate. They can, however, identify individual chakra signatures that they are familiar with or have encountered recently enough to remember. The use of this version of Chakura Kenshutsu is a prerequisite for the use of the next step, Chikari. It should be noted that this technique does not allow the user to use any jutsu outside of their normal range, and is purely a generalized Sensory technique, and nothing more.

Chakura Kenshutsu: Chikari allows the user to perform a "lock on" of sorts, enabling the user to identify chakra based on the specific chakra signature inherent in each person. This allows them, assuming they are familiar with a target's chakra signature, to identify when a jutsu was used by a specific individual by focusing on the specific chakra signature of that individual. While focusing on that specific signature, the user will only be able to detect that specific variety of chakra to a distance of their maximum range, and even through obstructions, allowing them to track someone after seeing the aftermath of their jutsu within a short time of its casting, or vice versa, enabling them to see incoming jutsu cast by a specific target, including Genjutsu, Fuinjutsu, and anything else the target may have instilled their chakra into. In addition, the user can immediately identify what type of use the chakra is being put to (Nin/Gen/Fuin/etc), as well as identify any elemental properties to the chakra. The abilities of Chikari do NOT extend back to Sosa, and thus the user must be using Chikari to detect such fine detail. Chakura Kenshutsu: Chikari is limited in several ways. Firstly, unlike the Byakugan, no Jaakugan abilities alter the user's field of vision, only their visual acuity and ability. As such, the user can only locate that which is within the "cone of vision" that a normal person would possess. Secondly, this ability can only be used after activating Chakura Kenshutsu: Sōsa, and is activated by focusing on one target to the exclusion of all others, causing a tunnel-vision type of effect, during which time the user can see normally, but cannot detect any chakra except for that which possesses the same chakra signature as the current target. Thirdly, a Jaakugan user cannot use both Kenshutsu abilities at the same time, and thus cannot compensate for the weakness of Chikari by using Katsuryoku. These limitations are not able to be bypassed in any way, shape, or form, and are absolute.

While this technique is able to see detect chakra in front of the user, even through objects, at up to 10km, that the absolute limit ("hardcap") to the range of the ability. That reach is only achievable by the most focused of Sensory shinobi, who have trained diligently in the usage of their Jaakugan, and must still be part of the Head family in order to achieve such skill and finess. It requires specialized training which takes several years for each technique in order to achieve such range. Such proficiency in this technique does not grant equal proficiency in Katsuryoku Kenshutsu no Jutsu, despite their obvious similarities.

In addition, if a user undertakes specialized training in the use of the Jaakugan (by taking an SA for Chakura Kenshutsu, specifically), they can enhance their range by as much as an additional four kilometers with this specific technique.

(Main Family range: 0km-10km) (Branch Family range: 0km-8km)

Chakuragōsuto no Jutsu[]

チャクラゴースト (lit. Chakra Ghost Technique)

Range: 0-10km | Chakra Usage: Very low

The Chakra Ghost Technique is a special genjutsu which can only be used by someone possessing an awakened Jaakugan, and may only be performed through the Jaakugan. This technique either creates an illusory "chakra clone" which is neither tangible nor visible, or can be used to completely erase the chakra signatures of both the user and others. This technique can be learned by any Jaakugan user, and only affects those who sense chakra, either through Dojutsu (including the Jaakugan) or through other chakra sensing techniques. The clones cannot attack, and are purely diversionary. If attacked, a chakra clone will fade from the sensor's sight briefly before coalescing back into its previous shape, unharmed.

Skilled users of this technique can also fool Sharingan users who read the chakra flows of their opponent to predict their actions, preventing Sharingan users from copying a Jaakugan user's ninjutsu, as well as preventing them from predicting a Jaakugan user's physical actions. This is no different than the normal use of the Chakra Ghost Technique, and is merely an advanced application of it, requiring the user to mask their own chakra signature, and then create a chakra clone which overlaps the user's body, creating false impressions of movements and chakra flows. The use of this advanced technique is not limited only to the user of the Jaakugan and can be applied to others, but always counts as two uses of Chakra Ghost Technique for the purpose of chakra usage, bringing the cost to "low."
